News that unemployment is on the rise casts a dark shadow on the bittersweet increase in credit card offers across the nation. As I blogged a couple of months ago, Americans recently increased their credit card debt for only the second time in 2 years. Though much of this debt may be tied to previously existing credit card accounts, no doubt the rise in credit card offers is a contributing factor.
Not only are Americans back on track with more timely payments, but credit card companies have settled into the changes required of them via the federal Credit CARD Act. In response, card companies increased their best credit card offers 103 percent in 2010 to 282 billion, up from 1.3 billion in 2009. Though this level of growth may slow in 2011, credit card offers are expected to continue to rise throughout the year. Whats unclear is the impact rising unemployment may have on consumer confidence and, in turn, our continued interest in acquiring new debt.

A student from Duke University, Justin Manweiler, has come up with a unique device that will help extend the life of devices using wi-fi, reports IT Pro Portal. It is called the SleepWell.
The invention by Manweiler is primarily based on how the battery life of Wi-Fi enabled devices, like laptops and smartphones, heavily depends upon the number of other Wi Fi enabled devices present in the near vicinity.
The higher the number of such devices present in an area, the harder it is on a particular device’s battery when accessing the Internet. T
