CEO of RTA resigns to make way for new leadership
CORPUS CHRISTI Eduardo Carrion resigned Wednesday after 16 months as the head of the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority.
Jorge Cruz-Aedo, the RTA’s chief of administration, was named interim CEO.
Carrion, who worked at the RTA for nine years, gave Chairwoman Crystal Lyons a verbal resignation after a board meeting, he said. His resignation is effective immediately.
“When I became CEO, my goal was to solidify and streamline the internal operations of the RTA and I’ve done that,” Carrion said. “I appreciate the opportunity to take the leadership role but think I think it’s time to move on.”
Lyons said Carrion’s resignation was a surprise.
“It’s not what we expected, but we feel we’re in good hands with (Cruz-Aedo),” Lyons said.
