Tax-free holiday shopping gears up

Tax-free weekend is here. Texas shoppers are expected to save $59.3 million this weekend in state and local taxes as they pick up items such as notebooks, pencils, shoes and jeans for the start of school. Here’s what is included.

USING A BUSINESS ACCOUNT?

A person buying school supplies under a business account must certify that the items are purchased for use by an elementary or secondary school student with an exemption.

Those exemptions can be found on the Texas Comptroller’s website at www.window.state.tx.us/.
